Text Box: What You Should Know When You Have a Work Related Injury

Text Box: To contact us:

Text Box: Some employers attempt to threaten or scare employees into not bringing workers’ a compensation claim. However, you are entitled to receive workers’ compensation benefits if you are injured at work.

Below are some general statistics on work related accidents in the United States from the National Safety Counsel (NSA):

There are 4,500 workplace fatalities every year.
3.4 million American workers a year suffer a disabling injury on the job.
Lost wages and medical bills resulting from injuries sustained at work total over $156.2 billion per year (approximately $1,120 per worker).

Workers’ compensation & Your Medical Bills
The Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) will pay your medical bills for the conditions which are allowed on your claim. If a condition has not yet been allowed on your claim, your attorney at The Friedman Law Firm will file the appropriate motion with the BWC to get your claim allowed for all of your injuries.

Your Lost Wages & workers’ compensation
If your doctor keeps you off of work as a result of your injuries, you are entitled to receive your lost wages from the BWC. However, no wage benefits are paid for the first week you are off of work unless you miss fourteen consecutive days of work. Also, if you miss less than eight days of work, the BWC will not compensate you for your lost time. Your attorney at The Friedman Law Firm will ensure that all the documentation is submitted for you to be paid for your lost time. Your attorney will also ensure that your lost wages are paid at the appropriate wage rate.

Your Pain and Suffering & workers’ compensation
Under Ohio law, workers’ compensation claims do not cover pain and suffering. However, there are additional workers’ compensation awards which your attorney can process for you that you may not be aware of on your own, such as a permanent partial award or lump sum settlement.

Our Fee
The Friedman Law Firm works on a contingency basis, meaning that the attorney’s fee comes from an award that your workers’ compensation attorney obtains on your behalf. You do not owe your lawyer anything up front and you do not owe anything if your attorney is not able to obtain a recovery for you.

Previous workers’ compensation Cases
Trust the Friedman Law Firm to represent you when you are injured at work. We will process your medical bills and make sure that your workers’ compensation claim is allowed for all of your injuries. For instance, one of our clients was severely injured when he was thrown from a lift truck. We got the client's workers’ compensation claim allowed for his severe injuries, including a brain injury. The client received compensation for his extensive time off of work and his medical bills were all paid by the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation.
